• Jonathan Blankenship

    Lead Pastor


    Pastor Jonathan focuses his ministry on the threefold biblical responsibilities of a pastor: he leads, feeds, and protects the church. This involves giving our church directional oversight, providing weekly preaching and teaching, and giving spiritual counsel in our day to day Christian lives. Pastor Jonathan and his wife, Kathleen, moved back to his hometown of Charlotte in 2008 to re-plant Laurel Baptist Church.

  • Jared Blankenship

    Administrative Pastor


    Pastor Jared and his wife, Julie, joined our team in 2009. They have been with us since the days of just a hand full of people, and they have been intricately involved in establishing Laurel as a healthy church. As our Administrative Pastor, Jared oversees our day to day ministry operations and directs our music and teen ministries. 

  • RJ Lopez

    Assistant Pastor


    Pastor RJ and his wife, Jessalyn, came to Laurel Baptist Church in 2017. As an Assistant Pastor, RJ assists our pastor in overseeing our Kid’s Connection, Media, Connection Groups, and Young Adult Ministries. 

  • Julie Blankenship

    Business Administrator & Awana Director


    Julie is married to our Administrative Pastor, Jared, and serves part-time as our Business Administrator. In addition to her office work, she also coordinates our nursery and Sunday night Awana Clubs program. Julie has been a part of the team since 2009. 

  • Lee Smith



    Lee Smith joined our staff in 2010 and assists our pastor by providing facility oversight. Lee has been a faithful member of our church and also serves on our leadership team. He leads a mid-week Connection Group on Wednesday mornings for those 60 and older. 

  • Jessalyn lopez

    office assistant


    Jessalyn is married to our Assistant Pastor, RJ Lopez, and joined our team in 2017. She serves as our Office Assistant to the pastoral team and assists her husband in his ministry responsibilities. Jessalyn also teaches at a local Christian school and provides piano lessons for people in our church.
